X-ray, is a penetrating form of high-energy electromagnetic radiation. Most X-rays have a wavelength ranging from 10 picometers to 10 nanometers, corresponding to frequencies in the range 30 petahertz to 30 exahertz (30×1015 Hz to 30×1018 Hz) and energies in the range 145eV to 124 keV. X-ray wavelengths are shorter than those of UV rays and typically longer than those of gamma rays. In many languages, X-radiation is referred to as Röntgen radiation, after the German scientist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen, who discovered it on November 8, 1895 He named it X-radiation to signify an unknown type of radiation. X-rays are generated via interactions of the accelerated electrons with electrons of tungsten nuclei within the tube anode. There are two types of X-ray generated: characteristic radiation and bremsstrahlung radiation.
The most familiar uses are:
X-rays can be used to treat tumors in the human body. According to scientists, when the human body is exposed to the right amount of X-rays, this action is capable of destroying certain tumors in the body. Scientists say if this is done very well, the tumors will be destroyed by the X-rays and no harm will be done to the surrounding tissues. Over the years, X-rays have been used extensively to treat people suffering from certain types of tumors. Because of X-rays, doctors are able to easily detect things such as a bone fracture or sprain in the body. This would have been next to impossible in the absence of X-rays. Can you imagine how difficult it would have been for doctors to check for broken bones in the body without the use of X-rays? But thanks to X-rays, these things are now pretty simple.x-rays are not only used in the destruction of malignant tumors, but they are also used by doctors to treat leukemia. Doctors use X-rays to examine the breast to look for breast cancer. X-rays do not only spot cancers, but they can also be used to -stop the growth of cancer cells. The right amount of X-rays introduced to the body can effectively destroy cancer cells growing in the body. X-rays can also be used to photograph the teeth and detect any abnormal growth of teeth.

بواسطة م.م. أيلاف مهدي
