Laser therapy is a medical treatment that employs focused beams of light. The word laser is an acronym for "light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation".
Laser helps in medicine to work with high accuracy by focusing on a small area and reducing damage to adjacent areas of the body, where pain, swelling and tissue damage are less compared to traditional surgeries, but laser treatment may be expensive and require many treatment sessions.
And the most common laser uses at the present time are cosmetic laser uses, such as
lasers to remove birthmarks
Laser is used in many cosmetic procedures, including the removal of skin marks that appear from birth (birthmarks). Low-energy green laser beams are directed at the affected skin area. The blood vessels in it absorb the energy and become so hot that they burn while the skin is not affected. The surrounding area, where its absorption of laser radiation is much less than these pigmentations, the laser is also used to remove tattoos in a similar way.
Laser for hair growth
Laser is also used to help grow hair in cases of baldness, with what is known as red light therapy, or cold laser therapy, which emits photons that are absorbed by weak cells, stimulating them to grow. However, this method still gives unstable results, as some patients benefit from it while others do not, so it needs more studies.
Laser hair removal
The use of laser hair removal is one of the most widespread applications, as a light beam of laser is emitted that is absorbed only by the hair follicles, without harming the skin, as the energy absorbed in the follicles turns into heat and destroys them within parts of a second.

By Msc.
