Abstract This article aims to clarify the effect of excessive use of electronic devices on eye health in light of technological advancement and the increased reliance on smartphones and computers This increased use has led to the emergence of multiple visual problems most notably digital eye strain and dry eye Introduction Electronic devices have become an integral part of daily life whether for work education or entertainment With the increase in the number of hours individuals spend in front of screens many health problems have emerged most importantly those related to eye health which affect visual comfort and quality of life Concept of digital eye strain Digital eye strain is defined as a group of symptoms that affect the eyes as a result of prolonged and continuous use of electronic screens These symptoms include Visual fatigue Headache Blurred vision Dryness and redness of the eyes Causes of eye strain from electronic devices The reasons for eye problems due to excessive use of electronic devices are related to several factors including Continuous staring at the screen for long periods Reduced blinking rate Inappropriate lighting Sitting in an incorrect posture in front of the screen Methods of prevention and maintaining eye health The impact of electronic devices on the eyes can be reduced by Following the 20 20 20 rule looking at something 20 feet away every 20 minutes for 20 seconds Reducing screen brightness and adjusting lighting Ensuring frequent blinking Undergoing regular eye examinations University of Al-Mustaqbal – The First and Leading Private University
