In implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security / Protection and Prevention Pillar for the year 2025, and within the second clause concerning the importance of women choosing academic specializations that are appropriate and aligned with labor market requirements, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Division and the Women’s Affairs Committee in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Industries, organized a field training activity at Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) Hospital entitled: “Future Pathways: Field Training in Chemical Risk Management within Hospitals.” The activity included a specialized scientific tour during which the supervisors of the activity: Asst. Lecturer Abrar Falah Asst. Lecturer Zaid Ghaith Ms. Raghda Safaa provided detailed explanations to the female students on mechanisms for managing chemical risks within the healthcare environment. This included proper handling of chemicals used in medical laboratories, safe storage methods, sterilization systems, and procedures for controlling emissions and pollutants within healthcare units. The training also focused on clarifying the role of chemical engineering in enhancing occupational safety in hospitals, through assessing material risks, modeling scenarios of chemical leakage or reactions, and developing emergency response plans, which highlights the important position of the chemical engineer within healthcare institutions. During the visit, emphasis was placed on the importance of women choosing engineering specializations that align with labor market needs, particularly disciplines that are experiencing employment growth in the health and industrial sectors, such as chemical process engineering, water and medical gas treatment, and risk management. The workshop pointed out that acquiring applied skills in this field provides female students with a real competitive advantage in modern work environments. This activity comes as part of the efforts of the Women’s Affairs Committee to promote technical awareness and provide female students with practical experiences that enhance their ability to make informed future career decisions and qualify them for effective integration into the labor market.
