As part of its academic and scientific role in supporting applied education and keeping pace with rapid developments in the medical field, the Biomedical Engineering Department at the College of Engineering – Mustaqbal University organized two specialized scientific workshops addressing the latest medical and engineering technologies related to healthcare.
The first workshop focused on the topic:
Electrosurgical Unit: Concept, Working Mechanism, and Medical Applications
It aimed to introduce students to the electrosurgical unit, its operating principles, and its uses in modern surgical procedures. The workshop also highlighted its main components and the approved safety standards required when using it in healthcare institutions, contributing to raising awareness of modern medical technologies and developing students’ scientific and practical skills.
In addition, the department organized a second workshop entitled “Applications of Genetic Engineering in Healthcare,” which aimed to highlight the advanced role of genetic engineering in developing the healthcare sector through improving disease diagnosis, supporting personalized medicine, and contributing to the innovation of modern therapeutic solutions, in line with scientific and technological progress in the medical field.
These two workshops support several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, by enhancing medical knowledge and improving the quality of healthcare services; SDG 4: Quality Education, by providing specialized scientific and practical training; and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by supporting technological advancement in the medical field.
The Biomedical Engineering Department reaffirmed its commitment to continuing the organization of applied scientific activities that bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application, and to preparing qualified biomedical engineering professionals capable of meeting labor market requirements and serving the community.
