The College of Health and Medical Technologies at Mustaqbal University Organizes a Training Workshop for First-Year Students

As part of the College of Health and Medical Technologies’ efforts at Mustaqbal University to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, the College organized a specialized training workshop for first-year students entitled: “Mastering Venous Blood Sampling to Enhance Patient Safety and the Sustainability of Healthcare.” The workshop was conducted and presented by Assistant Lecturer Ammar Badri Younis, practical instructor for the Physiology course, with active participation from the assisting team represented by Ali Rasool (Teaching Assistant) and Istabraq Rasool (Teaching Assistant). The workshop included intensive scientific and practical sessions, beginning with an explanation of internationally approved protocols for accurate selection of venous sites, followed by hands-on practical training on safe blood collection techniques. The workshop also emphasized linking clinical skills with concepts of sustainability in healthcare through: Enhancing practical performance efficiency to help reduce the waste of medical supplies. Applying infection control standards and the safe disposal of sharps to ensure a sustainable and healthy environment. Strengthening professional communication skills between the technician and the patient to ensure high-quality healthcare delivery. This workshop comes within the framework of the College’s commitment to developing students’ practical skills and preparing them in accordance with modern academic and professional standards, in line with the requirements of the healthcare sector and in support of improving the quality of services provided.
