International Expertise at Mustaqbal University within a Scientific Workshop on Keratoconus

Al-Mustaqbal University, represented by the College of Health and Medical Technologies / Department of Optometry Technologies, and in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, organized a specialized scientific training workshop entitled: “Non-Surgical Treatments for Keratoconus Cases.” This workshop was held as part of the University’s ongoing efforts to support applied education, develop professional skills, and enhance the competencies of personnel working in the health sector. The workshop aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), by contributing to the improvement of healthcare quality and the advancement of modern diagnostic and therapeutic practices in the field of eye health. The workshop featured distinguished scientific participation by the guest lecturer from the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Nasser Ali Al-Shamli, Chairman of the Middle East Council of Optometry (EMCO). The scientific program included intensive theoretical sessions and practical applications, focusing on: Introducing keratoconus and its clinical and health implications. Reviewing the latest relevant scientific research and studies. Explaining the most recent approved diagnostic techniques. Presenting non-surgical treatment options for various cases. Highlighting the role of specialized contact lenses, particularly Atlantis Scleral Lenses, in improving visual quality and patient rehabilitation. Conducting hands-on applications on accurate measurement techniques, lens fitting, and clinical follow-up of cases. In this context, Dr. Zahraa Halim Al-Qaim, Dean of the College of Health and Medical Technologies, affirmed that organizing such specialized scientific workshops reflects the University’s commitment to strengthening practical training and keeping pace with global scientific advancements, thereby contributing to improving the level of healthcare services provided to the community. At the conclusion of the workshop, the lecturers and participants were honored in appreciation of their scientific efforts and active contribution to the success of the event.
