The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College delivered a lecture on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., in Hall 303 on the third floor of the Humanities Building. The lecture was presented by Professor Dr. Thanaa Baha’ Al-Din, Head of the Unit.
During the lecture, she addressed the birth anniversaries of the Sha‘bani Moons—Imam Al-Husayn, Imam Al-Abbas, and Imam Ali Zayn Al-Abidin (peace be upon them)—which fall on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th of Sha‘ban. These occasions were highlighted as educational and intellectual milestones that offer university students a comprehensive approach combining dignity, loyalty, and knowledge. Their personalities represent exemplary models of rejecting humiliation, sacrificing for principles, and demonstrating patience in the face of challenges, thereby contributing to the formation of a conscious university generation that combines ethical commitment with academic excellence.
1. Imam Al-Husayn (peace be upon him): The Revolution of Awareness and the Rejection of Humiliation
The slogan “Hayhat minna al-dhilla” (Far be it from us to accept humiliation) is translated into rejecting intellectual dependency and fostering critical thinking. The Husayni university student does not accept superficial knowledge but instead seeks truth and confronts academic challenges with steadfast determination, realizing that the pursuit of knowledge is a form of striving in the cause of Allah to elevate society.
2. Imam Al-Abbas (peace be upon him):
He is a symbol of loyalty, responsibility management, courage, and selflessness. He represents the model of a student who remains loyal to his principles, homeland, and colleagues. Academically, this is reflected through teamwork, prioritizing collective success, adherence to academic integrity, and overcoming obstacles to achieve noble goals.
3. Imam Ali Zayn Al-Abidin (peace be upon him):
He led the intellectual and educational movement following the tragedy of Karbala, embodying courage, forbearance, and generosity. He is a symbol of wisdom and knowledge during times of crisis, representing the balance between emotion and reason. University students draw inspiration from him in calmly managing stress, patiently pursuing knowledge, and utilizing intellectual and scholarly tools—such as Al-Sahifa Al-Sajjadiyya—for self-development, spreading awareness, and addressing misconceptions with wisdom.
Educational Conclusion for University Students:
“The month of Sha‘ban is a station for self-purification. Emulating the three luminous figures means that a university student should be:
• Principled: never compromising the values of truth.
• Educated and aware: equipping oneself with knowledge to face technological and intellectual challenges.
• Responsible: striving to serve and develop the community.”
Adhering to these values contributes to transforming the university campus into an environment of creativity and intellectual productivity that supports nation-building, inspired by the “three luminous figures” who illuminated the path of awareness.
The event was attended by Assistant Professor Ahmed Al-Jundi, Vice Dean for Scientific Affairs, who offered educational guidance and emphasized the importance of university students embodying both knowledge and ethics, and of following the example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) and Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them) as role models in shaping their personalities as university students.
The lecture was also attended by the Head of the Department of Psychology, Professor Dr. Abdul Salam Joudat; the Head of the Department of English Education, Dr. Salam Hassan Makki; a number of faculty members; and students from the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences. At the conclusion of the lecture, sweets and pastries were distributed to attendees in celebration of the occasion.
