Al-Mustaqbal University continued the activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week for the second consecutive day under the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation,” with the presence of the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi. These activities are organized in collaboration between the Qualification, Employment, and Follow-up Division at the University Presidency and the Technical Engineering College, in line with the University’s strategic vision to foster an entrepreneurial culture, enhance innovation, and link academic outputs with labor market requirements.
The day’s events focused on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation in supporting entrepreneurship and building a sustainable knowledge-based economy, highlighting opportunities to apply these technologies in the Iraqi market and the local software sector.
The program opened with a speech by the Dean of the Technical Engineering College, Prof. Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abdul, who emphasized the importance of adopting AI and digital transformation to develop the educational environment and strengthen students’ entrepreneurial skills, contributing to the preparation of graduates qualified for future labor market demands—an objective aligned with the College of Administrative Sciences’ mission to build distinguished administrative and entrepreneurial competencies.
The day included a scientific seminar titled “Artificial Intelligence, Entrepreneurship, and Local Software Companies in the Iraqi Market”, presented by Prof. Dr. Silwan Ubaid Waheed, Director of the University’s Energy Research Center. The seminar explored opportunities to employ AI technologies in supporting entrepreneurial projects, developing the local software business environment, and anticipating the prospects of digital transformation in Iraq, with a focus on related challenges and opportunities.
Additionally, the Al-Mustaqbal AI Hackathon was launched, with participation from students of the Technical Engineering College and the College of Administrative Sciences, aiming to transform creative ideas into practical solutions contributing to sustainable development goals. Distinguished student projects were showcased, reflecting a high level of creativity and innovation under the supervision of a select group of university professors.
The accompanying exhibition featured digital innovations, displaying projects that demonstrated students’ ability to utilize modern technologies and AI to address real-world problems with technical, administrative, and societal dimensions. Participants were honored for their efforts and outstanding projects.
The day also included interactive virtual reality experiences for students’ AI applications, along with scientific competitions involving various engineering departments, aiming to enhance scientific competitiveness and link engineering and entrepreneurial knowledge to practical applications relevant to the labor market and digital transformation.
At the conclusion of the day’s events, Al-Mustaqbal University affirmed its commitment to organizing high-quality activities throughout Global Entrepreneurship Week, highlighting the vital role of AI and digital transformation in building a comprehensive entrepreneurial ecosystem led by youth and supported by academic institutions, while emphasizing the proactive role of the College of Administrative Sciences in developing students’ entrepreneurial and leadership skills and linking them to labor market outputs.
