The Measurement and Evaluation Unit is considered one of the fundamental pillars in developing the educational process and ensuring its quality within the College of Nursing at Al-Mustaqbal University. Administratively and technically, it is affiliated with the University Measurement and Evaluation Unit and operates under a clear vision aimed at achieving fairness, objectivity, and accuracy in assessing both student performance and academic programs.
The core mission of the Measurement and Evaluation Unit at the College of Nursing is to build an integrated assessment system aligned with modern academic standards, while taking into account the specific nature of nursing education, which combines both theoretical and practical components. The unit plays a central role in developing diverse assessment mechanisms, including written examinations, practical tests, and clinical evaluations, in addition to monitoring their implementation to ensure an accurate measurement of students’ competencies and skills.
Given that the college adopts two different academic systems, the unit assumes an important organizational and coordinative role by aligning assessment tools with the requirements of each system. In the first stage, which follows the Bologna system, the unit focuses on continuous assessment, formative examinations, portfolios, and outcome-based learning, in line with the philosophy of this system that promotes self-directed and interactive learning. In the remaining stages, which follow the semester system, the unit supervises the organization of final and periodic examinations, establishes clear and unified marking criteria, and ensures their fair and transparent implementation.
The Measurement and Evaluation Unit is also responsible for training faculty members in modern assessment methods, such as constructing question banks, designing questions that measure critical thinking rather than mere memorization, and adopting practical assessment tools appropriate for clinical nursing skills. In addition, the unit analyzes examination results and derives academic performance indicators, contributing to the continuous improvement of curricula and teaching methods.
The unit receives direct support from the College Deanship, represented by Professor Dr. Qahtan Hadi Hussein Al-Jubouri, Dean of the College of Nursing, who places great importance on developing assessment systems as a key element in ensuring the quality of educational outcomes. The unit is scientifically and administratively led by Dr. Ismail Mohammed Kazem Al-Saadi, Head of the Measurement and Evaluation Unit at the College of Nursing, who works to promote a culture of rigorous assessment and continuous coordination with the University Measurement and Evaluation Unit to unify standards and enhance academic performance.
In conclusion, the Measurement and Evaluation Unit at the College of Nursing, Al-Mustaqbal University, represents a strategic link between education, assessment, and quality assurance. It directly contributes to preparing scientifically and practically qualified nurses capable of serving the community with high efficiency and professionalism, in alignment with the university’s vision and mission of building advanced and sustainable health education.
