Al-Mustaqbal University’s Department of Radiologic Technology Organizes an Awareness Workshop on the Dangers of Extremist Thought

Within the framework of Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to enhancing students’ intellectual and cultural awareness and promoting the values of moderation and tolerance, the Department of Radiologic Technology at the College of Health and Medical Technologies organized an awareness workshop entitled “The Dangers of Extremist Thought and Its Impact on Societal Stability”, presented by Mr. Mustafa Kamel, with the attendance of several faculty members and students of the department. The workshop aimed to shed light on the concept of extremist thought, highlighting its risks and negative effects on both individuals and society, in addition to identifying the causes and factors that contribute to the spread of such ideas, whether social, cultural, or intellectual. The workshop also emphasized the importance of building cognitive awareness among young people, enabling them to distinguish between moderate and deviant thinking, and fostering a sense of responsibility in confronting extremist ideas. The workshop covered several important topics, most notably defining extremist thought and its characteristics, as well as the impacts it has on the security and stability of society. It also highlighted the role of educational institutions and universities in promoting a culture of dialogue, understanding, and acceptance of others. The importance of instilling human and ethical values within the university environment was also stressed, along with educating students about the dangers of being influenced by destructive ideas that could undermine social cohesion. The workshop witnessed active participation from the students through questions and discussions, which contributed to enriching the debate and exchanging views on the best ways to confront extremist thought and promote a culture of moderation. At the conclusion of the workshop, the presenter emphasized that spreading awareness and knowledge is one of the most important tools for protecting society, noting that the role of universities extends beyond academic education to include the development of students’ character and intellectual awareness, thereby preparing a conscious and responsible generation capable of contributing to the service of society and maintaining its security and stability.
