As part of the Optical Technologies Department’s efforts to achieve the fourth Sustainable Development Goal (Quality Education), the lecturer Asst. Lec. Alaa Mohammed Abdul Abbas and the assistant Fatima Haider Jasim organized a specialized scientific activity on artificial eye manufacturing, aiming to introduce the latest methods and technologies used in producing ocular prostheses for patients who have lost their eyes due to injuries or certain diseases. The activity included a scientific lecture that explained the main stages of artificial eye fabrication, starting from taking accurate eye measurements and designing the appropriate mold, followed by the different manufacturing processes, and ending with the eye coloring stage to achieve a natural appearance. The lecture also highlighted the most recent developments in this field, including the use of advanced materials and 3D printing technologies, which contribute to improving manufacturing quality and achieving higher accuracy in results. The organizers emphasized the importance of this field in supporting both the visual and psychological rehabilitation of patients, as it provides prosthetic solutions that help them better integrate into their daily lives. They also noted that the rapid technological advancements are opening new horizons for the development of this field and the improvement of its services.
