Under the patronage of the esteemed President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shaker Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Assistant Prof. Dr. Furat Hamza Al-Sultani, along with the Head of the Artificial Intelligence Department, Dr. Abdul-Kadhim Abdul-Karim, the university organized an interactive activity on Saturday, 7 March 2026, at 10:00 AM, during a lecture, titled “Artificial Intelligence and Sign Language”, with the participation of the students Rania and Wadah.
The activity focused on exploring the relationship between artificial intelligence technologies and sign language, and how these modern technologies can be utilized to enhance communication with individuals with hearing impairments. The students presented a practical demonstration illustrating methods of using artificial intelligence to translate sign language into an effective communication tool, allowing participants to understand practical technological applications and how programming and AI skills can serve the community.
The activity aimed to enhance students’ understanding of artificial intelligence technologies and their applications, while developing innovation and critical thinking skills through practical participation and direct interaction. It also sought to raise social awareness about the importance of sign language, empower individuals with hearing impairments, and encourage collaboration and interaction among students during the activity.
The activity is expected to contribute to raising students’ technical and social awareness, developing their ability to use technology in community service, and fostering a spirit of innovation in the field of education and modern technologies, preparing them to face future challenges and make optimal use of technological knowledge.
