In support of the advancement of higher education and the enhancement of its development mechanisms in Iraq, the President of Mustaqbal University, Professor Hassan Shakir Majdi, participated— in his capacity as a member of the Private Higher Education Council— in the proceedings of the sixth session of the Private Higher Education Council, which was held on 4 March 2026 at Al-Zahraa University (PBUH) in Karbala Governorate. The session was chaired by Professor Haider Abdul Dhahd, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Research Affairs, and was attended by several directors-general from the ministry and senior administrative staff, in addition to a number of presidents of private universities in Iraq. During the session, several important topics were discussed, particularly those related to organizing admission and registration procedures in private universities, as well as developing mechanisms and procedures that ensure the smooth implementation of these processes in accordance with the approved regulations. The participants also addressed the establishment of new colleges of medicine and emphasized the necessity of providing a robust educational environment capable of achieving competitiveness and alignment with international academic standards. The discussions also covered a number of organizational and administrative aspects, including university requirements and financial and tax obligations, which contribute to strengthening the stability of educational institutions and supporting the success of the educational process. The attendees further praised the scientific and academic achievements of private universities, which have played a significant role in advancing the higher education system in Iraq. Such meetings represent an important platform for enhancing coordination and integration between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and private universities, thereby positively impacting the quality of education and providing better learning opportunities for students, in line with the requirements of modern universities and the objectives of advanced higher education.
