Under the Patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, College of Nursing Organizes an Awareness Lecture Titled "No to Extremism"
Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, and in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Division, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Nursing organized an awareness lecture focused on the "Protection Pillar." The session addressed concepts of justice, human rights, and the promotion of peace, tolerance, and counter-extremism.
The lecture, titled "No to Extremism: The Psychological Impacts of Extremism on Individuals and Society," was presented by Dr. Burhan Hadi and Asst. Lect. Noor Fadhil.
The session explored the concept of extremism and its psychological and social repercussions. It emphasized the vital importance of instilling justice and human rights, spreading values of peace and tolerance, and fostering acceptance of the "other" to mitigate intellectual extremism. Furthermore, it highlighted the pivotal role of educational institutions in raising student awareness and building a university environment grounded in dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
This initiative aligns with the 16th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 16), which aims to promote peace, justice, and strong institutions. It also reflects the College of Nursing’s ongoing commitment to supporting awareness programs that enhance students' intellectual and social consciousness, reinforcing moderation and tolerance to ensure a safe and stable academic environment.
