Al-Mustaqbal University launched a large-scale tree-planting campaign its campus on Saturday, March 15, 2026, under the patronage of its President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Assistant Prof. Dr. Furat Hamza Al-Sultani, with the active participation of students and faculty members from the Department of Intelligent Medical Systems. This initiative aims to enhance green spaces within the university campus, raise environmental awareness about the importance of afforestation in mitigating climate change, and promote a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility among students. The campaign witnessed distinguished participation from students and academic staff, during which (25) seedlings of various plants and trees were planted as part of a collaborative effort that reflects a spirit of teamwork and contributes to improving the campus environment. The university affirmed its commitment to organizing such environmental activities due to their important role in raising community awareness of environmental issues and encouraging students to engage in initiatives that serve society and support sustainability. This activity comes as part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s efforts to support environmental initiatives and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), Goal 13 (Climate Action), Goal 15 (Life on Land), as well as Goal 4 (Quality Education). Al-Mustaqbal University is the first one university in Iraq.
