Under the patronage of the Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Rodhan Salman, Dean of the College of Education, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the college organized an awareness seminar titled “Enhancing the Role of Women in the Security and Peace Initiative.” The seminar was delivered by the Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit, Prof. Dr. Thanaa Bahaa Al-Din Abdullah, on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., in the Psychological Counseling Room at the college, with the attendance of a number of faculty members and administrative staff. The seminar addressed the pivotal role women play in promoting the concepts of societal security and peace. It emphasized that women are not only half of society, but also active partners in shaping its structure and values, due to their significant influence in raising generations and strengthening social cohesion. The lecturer highlighted several key roles women play in this field, most notably instilling the values of tolerance, dialogue, acceptance of others, and rejection of violence within the family, as women are considered the primary educators of future generations. She also discussed the role of women as community mediators who help strengthen communication and reconciliation among members of society, in addition to their role in advocating for victims’ rights and promoting justice while addressing the root causes of conflicts. The seminar also stressed the importance of women’s role in preventing violent extremism through their educational and social roles within the family and community. Furthermore, it emphasized the importance of women’s participation in security and judicial institutions, which contributes to making these institutions more effective and responsive to community needs. The seminar concluded by affirming that empowering and involving women in various aspects of life is not merely an issue of equality, but a strategic investment in building a more stable, secure, and peaceful society. This activity falls within the implementation plan of the Iraqi National Strategy for Women 2026 (Axis Three / Paragraph Two) and also contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education. #College_of_Education #Al_Mustaqbal_University
