Al-Mustaqbal University, under the leadership of Hassan Shaker Majdi, celebrated World Water Day on March 22 by organizing a series of activities aimed at highlighting the importance of freshwater and the need for sustainable water management, with a focus on the link between water and gender equality in 2026.
The celebrations included awareness campaigns on water conservation, an international conference on environment and water, and a community initiative based on hydroponic agriculture techniques, which help reduce water consumption and protect water resources, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.
The events also emphasized women’s empowerment in the water sector through workshops and seminars that highlighted the vital role of women and girls in water management and encouraged their participation in decision-making processes. Additionally, modern technologies were utilized in water distribution and management to support sustainability efforts.
These activities come in response to increasing challenges related to water scarcity and climate change impacts. The university stressed the importance of taking immediate and effective steps to preserve this vital resource as a fundamental right for all.
The event witnessed broad participation from students and the local community, including farmers, through both in-person and virtual activities. Awareness campaigns were also conducted عبر social media using the hashtag #WorldWaterDay to encourage individuals to adopt responsible water consumption behaviors.
This initiative reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to supporting sustainable development goals and raising awareness about environmental and water-related issues, contributing to a more sustainable future.
