Al-Mustaqbal University, under the leadership of its President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, celebrated World Water Day, observed annually on March 22. This occasion highlights the importance of freshwater and the necessity of managing it sustainably. This year’s celebration focused on emphasizing the relationship between water and gender equality, reaffirming the vital role of women and girls in addressing water-related challenges.
The university organized a series of awareness activities, including campaigns to promote water conservation, an international conference on environment and water, and community initiatives based on hydroponic agriculture aimed at reducing water consumption and protecting water resources. These efforts align with Sustainable Development Goal 6: “Water for All.”
This year’s events also focused on empowering women in the water sector through workshops and seminars that highlighted the importance of women’s participation in water management decision-making. Furthermore, the university adopted modern technologies in water distribution, supporting sustainability and enabling community members—especially women and girls—to actively contribute.
Al-Mustaqbal University ranks first among private universities in Iraq.
