The Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques organized, as part of its scientific plan for online workshops, a specialized workshop entitled “The Impact of Rising Temperatures on the Spread of Infectious Diseases”, held on Thursday evening, March 26, 2026, via the Google Meet platform. The workshop lecture was delivered by Zaid Abdulhadi Abd, who discussed the relationship between climate changes and the increasing rates of infectious disease spread. He highlighted the environmental and biological mechanisms that contribute to the transmission of infections, in addition to addressing the major challenges facing healthcare systems in light of rising temperatures. The workshop also included a scientific presentation supported by real-life examples and recent studies, in which the lecturer explained the impact of heat on microbial growth and the activity of disease vectors, along with proposing preventive strategies to limit the spread of these diseases, especially in regions with hot climates. The workshop witnessed notable interaction from participants, as many questions and inquiries were raised, enriching the discussion and reflecting the interest of students and academic staff in such vital topics. At the conclusion of the workshop, the department emphasized the importance of continuing to hold such scientific activities that contribute to developing research skills and enhancing health awareness among students, encouraging everyone to actively participate in upcoming workshops.
