In line with its scientific curriculum aimed at developing modern accounting concepts, the Accounting Department at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a specialized virtual workshop on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, via the Google Meet platform, titled: "Accounting Disclosure for Water Sustainability" The workshop aimed to highlight the fundamental role of accounting in protecting natural resources and providing an academic vision on how to audit and evaluate water consumption within financial and administrative reports. Distinguished Academic Contributions The session featured insightful scientific presentations by faculty members of the department: Asst. Lect. Noor Sabah Hassan Asst. Lect. Mohammed Abdul-Munim Al-Maamouri Key Discussion Pillars The workshop focused on precise technical and accounting aspects, including: Accounting for Water Resources: Methods for measuring direct and indirect costs associated with water as a vital asset. International Disclosure Standards: Aligning accounting reports with global environmental sustainability requirements. Environmental Oversight and Auditing: The accountant's role in monitoring water waste and contributing to administrative decisions that support sustainability. Closing Recommendations At the conclusion of the workshop, the Accounting Department emphasized the necessity of integrating "Green Accounting" concepts into both academic curricula and practical applications. It was noted that accounting disclosure for water sustainability is no longer an optional secondary matter, but rather an economic and ethical necessity imposed by current climate challenges.
