the Department of Dialysis Kidney Techniques at the College of Health and Medical Techniques – Al-Mustaqbal University, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Division, organized an online awareness workshop entitled The Role of Women in Combating Water Scarcity.
The workshop was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Zainab Ali Mohsen Al-Khafaji, Head of the Department of Dialysis Kidney Techniques , on Thursday, March 26, 2026.
In support of advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 5: Gender Equality and Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, the workshop included a comprehensive explanation of the concept of water scarcity and its underlying causes. It further reviewed the challenges faced by the country over the past two years, including reduced rainfall, declining river water levels, and the desiccation of marshlands
Furthermore, the workshop emphasized the vital role of women in managing water consumption and their effective contribution to mitigating the water scarcity crisis.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness among participants and the wider community about the importance of water in daily life, as well as the necessity of adopting proper practices for rationalizing water consumption, thereby contributing to alleviating the water scarcity crisis facing the country.
This workshop represents a contribution to student development efforts by enhancing their awareness and fostering their skills in educational and extracurricular activities.
