In pursuit of Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and as part of AL-Mustaqbal University’s ongoing efforts to raise community awareness and foster a culture of human rights, the Department of Optics and Vision Technology at AL-Mustaqbal University, in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Unit, organized a large-scale awareness-raising event titled “Combating Violence Against Women” on Saturday, March 28, 2026. This event is part of a series of cultural initiatives adopted by the university to promote the values of justice and equality in the academic and community environments. The event featured a specialized lecture delivered by Ms. Naba Yassin and Ms. Hawra Sadik, during which they presented an in-depth analysis of the concept of violence against women and its various forms, with a focus on the psychological and social consequences of this phenomenon. The lecture also emphasized the pivotal role that educational institutions play in curbing negative behaviors through continuous awareness-raising and the promotion of values of mutual respect. The lecture saw remarkable engagement from the students, who enriched the discussion with insightful comments and questions that highlighted the importance of building a society based on equality and the protection of rights. The organization of this event underscores AL-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to its social responsibility and to fostering cultural awareness among its students, thereby contributing to the development of a generation that is conscious and capable of bringing about positive change in society.
