Al-Mustaqbal University sheds light on the dimensions of water waste and its economic impact in a specialized scientific workshop.

In conjunction with the activities of World Water Day, and under the theme of resource sustainability, the Department of Financial and Banking Sciences at the College of Administrative Sciences, Al-Mustaqbal University, organized a specialized scientific workshop on Thursday, March 26, 2026, entitled: "Water Waste in Iraq and Its Impact on the Efficiency of Economic Resource Use" The workshop was held under the patronage of the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Administrative Sciences, Professor Dr. Haider Ali Al-Dulaimi, with close follow-up from the department leadership. It aimed to enhance academic and societal awareness of the water crisis from an economic perspective. During the session, Lecturer Najlaa Salem Mousa presented a set of strategic themes linking water scarcity with national economic returns. Water Challenges: An analysis of water waste in Iraq and its direct impact on productive sectors. Resource Efficiency: Highlighting the role of water as a vital production factor and a key driver of sustainable development. Crisis Management: How to transform water-related challenges into development opportunities through improved usage policies. Administrative Integration: Integrating technological and economic solutions with societal behavior to ensure optimal use. The workshop emphasized that smart management of water resources is no longer a luxury, but a fundamental pillar for ensuring sustainable economic growth. Discussions stressed the need to adopt comprehensive strategies that enhance economic performance by reducing water losses in both agricultural and industrial sectors. The workshop witnessed remarkable engagement from faculty members and students, as discussions enriched the session and reflected a growing level of environmental and economic awareness within the academic community. The workshop concluded with several key recommendations, Promoting Value Awareness: Instilling a culture of rational water consumption as a national and economic responsibility. Strategic Planning: Calling on sectoral entities to adopt water policies that maximize the economic value of every cubic meter of water. Innovation: Supporting scientific research that offers technological solutions to reduce waste. This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities adopted by Al-Mustaqbal University to contribute to addressing pressing national issues and to provide society with sound academic solutions.
