On Thursday, March 26, 2026, the Rapporteur of the Department of Biochemistry, Dr. Aseel Amer Hadi, conducted a scientific workshop titled “River Water Pollution and Water Resources” via Google Meet, with the participation of a number of faculty members, students, and individuals interested in environmental issues.
This workshop was part of a series of scientific activities organized by the department, aiming to enhance environmental awareness and highlight the challenges facing water resources, particularly the issue of river pollution and various water sources.
The workshop aimed to introduce the concept of water pollution and its types, focusing on the main causes of pollution such as industrial waste, agricultural runoff, and untreated domestic wastewater, as well as the impact of these pollutants on the environment, human health, and ecological balance.
It also addressed the main sources of river water pollution and highlighted the dangers of pollution resulting from human activities. In addition, the workshop discussed scientific methods used to reduce pollution and modern treatment techniques that contribute to preserving water quality.
Furthermore, the workshop emphasized the importance of sustainable water resource management and the necessity of developing effective solutions to reduce pollution through the implementation of environmental laws and raising community awareness about the importance of water conservation.
The workshop witnessed significant interaction from participants, with many questions and discussions that enriched the session and expanded the scientific understanding of the attendees, reflecting the importance of this topic in light of current environmental challenges.
At the conclusion of the workshop, emphasis was placed on the need to protect water resources and reduce pollution to ensure their sustainability for future generations.
