On Thursday, March 26, 2026, Dr. Karrar Majeed Ubaid conducted a scientific workshop titled “The Use of Nanotechnology in Water Purification” via Google Meet, with the participation of a number of faculty members, students, and individuals interested in environmental and technological fields. This workshop was part of a series of scientific activities organized by the department, aiming to enhance scientific awareness and highlight modern technologies used in addressing environmental challenges, particularly those related to water resources. The workshop aimed to introduce nanotechnology and its important role in water purification by explaining how nanomaterials can be used to remove contaminants efficiently and improve water quality. It also addressed the advantages of this technology compared to traditional methods in terms of accuracy, efficiency, cost reduction, and sustainability. The workshop included a detailed explanation of the أبرز applications of nanotechnology in water treatment, such as the use of nanoparticles, nanofilters, and advanced membranes, which contribute to the effective removal of heavy metals, microorganisms, and organic pollutants. Furthermore, the workshop discussed the challenges facing the application of nanotechnology in water purification, as well as its future prospects, emphasizing the importance of supporting scientific research and innovation in this field to keep pace with global developments. The workshop witnessed notable interaction from participants, with many questions and discussions that enriched the session and enhanced the scientific understanding of the attendees, reflecting the importance of this topic in light of current environmental challenges. At the conclusion of the workshop, emphasis was placed on the importance of employing modern technologies in preserving water resources and ensuring their sustainability for future generations.
