Promoting Psychological Well-being and Combating Smoking: Counseling Sessions for Medical Instrumentation Engineering Techniques Students

The Psychological Guidance and Educational Counseling Committee at the Department of Medical Instrumentation Engineering Techniques held its periodic meeting with third-year students on Saturday, March 28, 2026. The session aimed to highlight the dangers of smoking and explore ways to curb its prevalence within the university environment. The discussions addressed the primary drivers of smoking initiation, such as imitating role models, peer pressure, and family environment. Additionally, the committee focused on debunking misconceptions regarding the role of smoking in increasing academic focus during exams, while emphasizing the severe health risks to both smokers and those exposed to secondhand smoke. These efforts aim to promote preventive behaviors and protect the university community, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being.
