In recognition of the role of youth in building a sustainable future, and in line with global efforts to combat climate change, the Biomedical Engineering Department at Future University organized a comprehensive environmental awareness campaign entitled "Save the Earth... Start Now," under the supervision of Engineer Baraa Mahdi Saleh and Programmer Zahraa Abdul Zaid. The campaign, which saw wide participation from students and faculty members of the department, aimed to instill a culture of individual environmental responsibility and transform awareness of the need to preserve planet Earth into simple yet impactful daily behaviors through: • Understanding the Problem: Raising awareness of the dangers of plastic pollution, the exacerbation of climate change, and its devastating effects on the environment and public health. • Practical Solutions: Presenting simple steps individuals can take, such as reducing the use of single-use plastics, conserving energy and water, and sorting waste at the source. • Community Impact: Encouraging participants to share this knowledge with their families and communities, thus becoming environmental ambassadors. The campaign's alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): This campaign aligns with Future University's commitment to achieving the global sustainability goals, specifically: • Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being): by raising awareness of the direct link between environmental health and human health. • Goal 4 (Quality Education): by providing non-traditional educational opportunities that contribute to building a comprehensive community awareness. • Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities): by promoting environmentally friendly practices at the local level. • Goal 13 (Climate Action): by taking practical steps to raise awareness of the importance of reducing carbon emissions.
