Babylon – [31/3/2026] Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Nursing, the Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Branch organized a field awareness campaign at Marjan Hospital targeting hospital visitors, particularly youth, to raise awareness about the dangers of addiction and promote viewing it as a treatable medical condition. According to the organizers, the campaign aimed to break the stigma and fear associated with addiction, with a focus on synthetic drugs, especially crystal meth, due to their increasing threat to society. The activity included field rounds inside the hospital, where the nursing team engaged directly with visitors through brief discussions, providing health education and explaining early warning signs of addiction such as isolation, sleep disturbances, neglect of personal appearance, and severe mood swings. The team also distributed educational brochures presenting simplified information about addiction as a chronic brain disease, along with guidance for families on how to deal with affected individuals and ways to seek help through psychological consultations and available hospital services. The campaign witnessed strong engagement from visitors, who showed significant interest by asking questions about prevention methods and available treatment services, including those provided at the “Hayat Ward.” Organizers emphasized that such initiatives play an important role in enhancing community awareness and reducing the spread of addiction.
