The Coordinator of the Department of Biology at Al-Mustaqbal University, Assistant Lecturer Jaafar Hamed Jaafar, organized a scientific workshop on Saturday, April 4, 2026, entitled “Biological Hazards in Laboratories”, for first-year students of the department. The workshop was held in the Humanities Building Hall, with the participation of a number of faculty members and students. The workshop aimed to enhance students’ scientific awareness of potential biological hazards in laboratories, as well as to highlight key biosafety procedures and methods of risk prevention, contributing to the creation of a safe learning environment within scientific laboratories. The workshop included a scientific lecture delivered by Assistant Lecturer Jaafar Hamed Jaafar, in which he reviewed the most prominent types of biological hazards that students may encounter during laboratory work. He also provided a detailed explanation of the required safety procedures and emphasized the importance of adhering to laboratory guidelines and instructions. The workshop witnessed notable interaction from students through questions and discussions, reflecting their interest in the practical aspects of their specialization. The department’s administration affirmed its commitment to organizing such scientific workshops that contribute to developing students’ skills and enhancing their awareness of proper laboratory practices, stressing the importance of adhering to biosafety standards.
