Under the generous patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the activities of the Fifth Annual Al-Mustaqbal Book Fair were inaugurated on the morning of Saturday, April 4, 2026. The fair is considered one of the cultural events at the level of Iraqi universities and is held under the slogan "Our Book, Our Future,” with distinguished attendance that included a select group of professors and students, in addition to a number of intellectuals and those interested in cultural affairs. The opening activities commenced with a speech delivered on behalf of the University Presidency by Prof. Dr. Abbas Abdul Ali Al-Bawi, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs. In his speech, he emphasized that the fair represents an important knowledge platform reflecting the university’s commitment to supporting cultural movement and enhancing scientific awareness, as well as reinforcing the status of the book as a fundamental pillar in building and developing societies. The fair witnessed wide participation from 25 publishing houses from within Iraq and abroad, offering a diverse collection of scientific and literary publications. It also featured an integrated cultural program that included panel discussions with a select group of writers and authors, as well as theatrical performances and art exhibitions that contribute to enriching the cultural scene. The fair also included the launch of an initiative to distribute vouchers for free book purchases, in a step aimed at encouraging students to read and enhancing a culture of knowledge and learning. The activities of the fair are expected to continue for one week, providing an opportunity for the largest possible number of visitors to explore the latest publications and participate in various cultural activities. The organization of this fair comes within the vision of the College of Administrative Sciences at Al-Mustaqbal University, which supports the creation of an integrated academic and cultural environment that contributes to preparing an aware and educated generation capable of keeping pace with knowledge developments and contributing to shaping the future.
