The fifth annual Al-Mustaqbal University Book Fair launched on Saturday morning, April 4, 2026, marking one of the most prominent cultural events across Iraqi universities. This year’s edition is held under the theme “Our Book, Our Future” and witnessed a wide turnout that included university professors, students, intellectuals, poets, and cultural figures. The opening ceremony began with a speech delivered on behalf of the University Presidency by Professor Dr. Abbas Abdul Ali Al-Bawi, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, who affirmed that the fair reflects the university’s commitment to supporting culture, promoting scientific awareness, and strengthening students’ connection with books as a fundamental pillar in building informed societies capable of shaping their future. The fair features the participation of twenty‑five publishing houses from various countries, offering a rich collection of scientific and literary publications. It also presents a comprehensive cultural program that includes sessions with writers, poets, and authors, in addition to theatrical performances and inspiring art exhibitions that add a creative dimension to the event. The opening also included the launch of an initiative to distribute free book‑purchase coupons, a step aimed at encouraging students to read and fostering a culture of knowledge and exploration.
