Under the generous patronage of the President of Almustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi Almustaqbal University opened the Fifth Annual Almustaqbal Book Fair on the morning of Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Central Activities Building under the slogan “Our Book, Our Future,” with the attendance of a distinguished group of professors and students, in addition to a number of intellectuals and individuals interested in cultural affairs, in one of the most prominent cultural events among Iraqi universities. The opening ceremony began with a speech delivered on behalf of the University Presidency by Professor Dr. Abbas Abdul Ali Al-Bawi, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, in which he emphasized that the fair represented an important intellectual milestone reflecting the university’s commitment to supporting cultural activity, promoting scientific awareness, and reinforcing the status of books as a fundamental pillar in building thought and developing societies. The fair witnessed broad participation from 25 publishing houses from inside and outside Iraq, offering a diverse collection of scientific and literary publications, alongside an integrated cultural program that included dialogue sessions with a select group of writers and literary figures, as well as theatrical performances and art exhibitions that enriched the university’s cultural scene. The fair also included the launch of an initiative to distribute free coupons for purchasing books, in a step that aimed to encourage students to read and to strengthen their culture of knowledge and learning, in line with the university’s vision of creating an integrated educational and cultural environment. The activities are expected to continue for one week, allowing a larger number of visitors to explore the latest publications and take part in the diverse cultural events, further highlighting the importance of books and their role in raising awareness and building the future. The organization of this fair came within the vision of the Department of Medical Physics at Almustaqbal University, which supports the creation of an integrated academic and cultural environment that contributes to preparing an aware and educated generation capable of keeping pace with developments in knowledge and contributing to shaping the future.
