Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the activities of the 5th Annual Al-Mustaqbal Book Fair were inaugurated on the morning of Saturday, April 4, 2026. The event is considered one of the most prominent cultural activities at the level of Iraqi universities and was held under the slogan: “Our Book, Our Future,” with wide attendance from faculty members, students, and a distinguished group of intellectuals and those interested in cultural affairs. The opening ceremony featured a speech on behalf of the university presidency delivered by Professor Dr. Abbas Abdul Ali Al-Bawi, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs. He emphasized that the fair represents an important knowledge platform reflecting the university’s commitment to supporting culture, promoting scientific awareness, and strengthening students’ relationship with books as a cornerstone in building societies. The fair hosts the participation of 25 publishing houses from various countries around the world, offering a rich diversity of scientific and literary publications that meet the interests of readers across different fields. It also includes an integrated cultural program featuring panel discussions with a number of writers and literary figures, in addition to artistic activities and theatrical performances that enrich the university’s cultural environment. The event also witnessed the launch of an initiative to distribute free book purchase coupons, aiming to encourage students to read and enhance their culture of knowledge acquisition. The fair is expected to continue for a full week, providing visitors with a broader opportunity to explore the latest publications and participate in various cultural activities. This event comes as part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s vision to establish an integrated academic and cultural environment that contributes to preparing an aware and educated generation capable of keeping pace with knowledge developments and shaping the future.
