Under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and within the activities of the Fourth Al-Mustaqbal International Sustainability Week, Al-Mustaqbal University hosted the Second International Scientific Conference of the College of Administrative Sciences. The event was attended by the university president, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, along with a distinguished group of assistant presidents, deans, researchers, and academics from various Iraqi universities, in addition to international participants from Turkey and Egypt.
The College of Administrative Sciences played a pivotal role in organizing this major scientific event, as the conference attracted 257 research papers, reflecting the college's advanced academic standing and the trust of researchers in its organizational capabilities and scientific outputs, as well as its importance in addressing economic and administrative issues related to sustainable development.
The conference commenced with a speech on behalf of the university presidency delivered by the director of scientific and academic supervision, Professor Dr. Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, who emphasized that the conference represents a scientific response to rapidly evolving economic challenges, stressing the importance of integrating research efforts to develop sustainable solutions that contribute to reducing poverty and promoting development in Iraq.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Administrative Sciences and Head of the Preparatory Committee, Professor Dr. Haider Al-Dulaimi, stated that the conference, held under the title “Poverty and Sustainable Development in Iraq: Cost of Impact and Response Policies,” represents a solid scientific platform led by the college to exchange expertise and produce applied knowledge in the fields of economics, accounting, and financial and banking sciences. He noted that the scale of participation reflects the growing confidence in the college's academic role.
He further affirmed that the conference’s alignment with the International Sustainability Week reflects the harmony between the College’s activities and the strategic vision of Al-Mustaqbal University toward becoming a sustainable institution actively contributing to community service and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The opening session featured a panel discussion with the participation of Professor Dr. Hassan Latif, president of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, and Professor Dr. Wafaa Al-Mahdawi, advisor at the Ministry of Planning, where discussions addressed key economic challenges and ways to tackle them through modern scientific approaches.
This was followed by scientific sessions organized by the College of Administrative Sciences, distributed across three main tracks: economic, administrative, and financial and accounting. These sessions witnessed in-depth discussions that contributed to enhancing scientific research and exchanging expertise among participants.
The conference concluded with the issuance of a final statement and recommendations focusing on supporting academic and research development pathways and strengthening the role of the College of Administrative Sciences in providing scientific insights that support decision-makers and drive sustainable development in Iraq.
