As part of the Fourth Annual Sustainability Week activities, and under the patronage of Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Roudhan Salman, Dean of the College of Education, the Department of English organized a distinguished literary and poetry performance at Al-Mustaqbal University, attended by members of the college’s academic and administrative staff.
The event was held in conjunction with the celebration of World Poetry Day, during which second-year students presented a selection of poems in an elegant literary style that reflected a high level of linguistic proficiency and creative expression.
The performance was supervised by Dr. Maamoun Sami and Assistant Lecturer Rafal Abbas. It included a variety of poetry recitations that received strong engagement and appreciation from the audience, due to the quality of performance and the careful selection of texts.
The event also featured valuable critical and academic contributions delivered by the Head of the English Department, Dr. Salam Hassan Makki, and the Scientific Assistant, Dr. Ahmed Jundi. Their remarks focused on the importance of employing literature as a means of sustaining human and cultural values, as well as its role in developing students’ expressive skills and enhancing their intellectual awareness.
The department’s leadership emphasized that organizing such activities comes within the framework of supporting student talents and activating the role of literature in achieving cultural sustainability. They noted that these events contribute to building well-rounded academic personalities capable of creative communication across multiple languages.
