At the beginning of the event, the University President praised the strong participation, noting that it reflects a high level of environmental awareness and institutional belonging, and highlights the university’s success in embedding sustainability as a daily practice both on and off campus, while stressing the importance of preparing a generation capable of leading change toward a sustainable future.
Meanwhile, Professor Dr. Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, stated that the Sustainability Walk represented a practical implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and a continuation of the university’s strategic approach since 2019 toward becoming a sustainable institution, emphasizing the vital role of students in spreading sustainability awareness within society.
The walk included several awareness stations where participants explored the university’s key sustainability initiatives, including expanding green spaces, preserving biodiversity, adopting clean energy, implementing hydroponic and tissue culture techniques, recycling and waste management programs, modern irrigation systems, and promoting green transportation practices within the campus.
The Medical Physics Department affirmed that its participation stemmed from its academic responsibility to support environmental efforts and strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration in achieving sustainability goals, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in enhancing students’ scientific awareness and linking theory with practice.
This initiative formed part of a broader series of activities implemented by the university to support sustainable development pathways and strengthen community engagement, in alignment with global trends toward building a green and innovative educational environment.
