As part of the Fourth Al-Mustaqbal International Sustainability Week 2026, Al-Mustaqbal University organized the “Sustainability March” initiative, under the patronage of the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and with wide participation from the university’s staff and students—“Al-Mustaqbal Sustainability Ambassadors”—in a scene that embodied the institution’s strong commitment to sustainability culture and responsible environmental action. In his remarks, the University President commended this active engagement, noting that the distinguished participation reflects an advanced level of environmental awareness and institutional belonging among students and staff. He emphasized that it also confirms the university’s success in embedding sustainability concepts as a daily practice both on and off campus. He further highlighted that such initiatives form a vital foundation for preparing a generation capable of leading change toward a more sustainable and balanced future. For his part, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, stated that the “Sustainability March” represents a practical application of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and reflects the university’s strategic trajectory since 2019 toward becoming a sustainable university. He underscored the pivotal role of students in promoting sustainability culture and enhancing environmental awareness within the community. The march featured multiple awareness stations, where participants were introduced to the university’s أبرز sustainability initiatives, including the expansion of green spaces, preservation of biodiversity, adoption of clean energy sources, implementation of hydroponics and tissue culture technologies, waste recycling and treatment programs, utilization of modern irrigation systems, and the promotion of green transportation practices within the campus—all contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. This initiative is part of a series of qualitative activities implemented by Al-Mustaqbal University, reaffirming its leading role in supporting sustainable development pathways and strengthening community engagement, in alignment with global trends toward building a green and innovative educational environment.
