Under the patronage and supervision of the Deanship of the College of Health and Medical Technologies at AL-Mustaqbal University, the activities of the First Scientific Forum on Medical Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy were successfully concluded. The forum was held as part of a series of scientific initiatives aimed at enhancing the skills of students and professionals, on April 19, 2026, in the designated halls within the medical building on campus, with wide participation from faculty members, students, and healthcare specialists.
The second day featured an intensive scientific and practical program, including advanced specialized lectures and hands-on workshops, as well as presentations of the latest therapeutic technologies in neurological and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. This reflects the College’s commitment to strengthening applied education and keeping pace with modern advancements.
The sessions commenced with a scientific lecture delivered by Dr. Zaid Saad Abdul Madi, a specialist in orthopedic surgery, fractures, and microsurgical reconstructive procedures, entitled “Introduction to Rehabilitation.” The lecture addressed contemporary foundations of medical rehabilitation, emphasizing the pivotal role of physiotherapy in enhancing treatment efficiency and accelerating recovery.
Dr. Rana Ballout, a physiotherapy specialist at Al-Sibtain University, also delivered a lecture entitled “Rehabilitation after Stroke,” in which she reviewed the latest therapeutic protocols for stroke rehabilitation, highlighting the importance of early intervention in improving motor function and achieving better clinical outcomes.
The program further included hands-on training sessions, providing participants with the opportunity to directly apply acquired skills. It also featured the demonstration of advanced technologies, most notably the robotic Anika Gloves within the theme “Robotic Hand Rehabilitation for Stroke and Neurological Patients,” representing an advanced innovation in the rehabilitation of patients with stroke and neurological disorders.
The organization of this forum comes within the framework of the College of Health and Medical Technologies’ ongoing efforts to reinforce the practical aspect of student training and to enhance their scientific and professional competencies, in alignment with labor market demands and the rapid developments in physiotherapy technologies.
At the conclusion of the event, participants expressed their appreciation for the high level of organization and the advanced scientific content, emphasizing the importance of continuing such scientific forums in supporting the educational and training journey and strengthening the position of AL-Mustaqbal University as one of the leading academic institutions in Iraq.
