The main causes of cancer<br />Cancer is a group of diseases characterized by abnormal growth and division of cells, which may spread to other areas of the body. Cancer is one of the biggest health problems in the world, affecting a large number of people. In this article, we will look at the top seven causes of cancer.<br />1. Smoking and exposure to tobacco: Smoking is one of the main causes of cancer, as it is associated with about 22% of deaths from this disease. Tobacco contains a group of carcinogenic chemicals that damage cells and increase the risk of cancer.<br />2. Genetic factors: Some inherited genes can increase the risk of cancer. It represents about 5-10% of cancer cases as a result of genetic factors inherited from the parents.<br />3. Infection with viruses and bacteria: Some viruses and bacteria can increase the risk of cancer. An example is the human papilloma virus (HPV), which is associated with cervical and oropharyngeal cancer, and hepatitis C virus (HCV) and liver cancer.<br />4. Exposure to the sun and ultraviolet rays: Excessive exposure to the sun and ultraviolet rays can lead to skin cancer including melanoma, which is a very dangerous type of skin cancer.<br />5. Diet and lifestyle: An unhealthy diet and obesity can increase the risk of cancer. Eating foods rich in fruits and vegetables, maintaining a healthy weight and exercising regularly is recommended to prevent cancer.<br />6. Exposure to chemicals and carcinogens: Working in some professions and exposure to carcinogenic chemicals may lead to an increased risk of cancer. This includes exposure to asbestos, benzene, formaldehyde, and other chemicals
