Physical educators must rely on their own practical experiences in helping others acquire skill in movement and sport activities. Lake professionals in any other field they have the problem of applying theoretical coustructs and research findings to practical skill learning problems.Findings and theories from the fields of psychology, sociology, physiology,and anthropology as well as research within the field of physical education itself enhance knowledge concerninghe aquisition of skill. Physical educators tend to seek research that is immediately apicable. Most researchers realize this is not always possible,and the discovery of knowledge, although it is not immediately applicable, is extremely important.<br />The role of the researchers in any field is to discover new knwledge and fact as well as to tesr innovation and present practices. The educators role is to apply the findings sound reseach,he has the difficult task of determining the most suitable methods of instrucĺtion. Methods or techniques for the improvement of learning are discovered through research through invention, and through innovation may be of the result of trail and error observation,and more trail and error. <br />Some innovations grow out of sheer desperation. In any case, it is the role of the teacher-resesrcher to test the soundness of innovations.
