Terrazzo is described as a composite material, poured in place or prefabricated for precast terrazzo which is used for flooring, walls, stair treads, and other custom products. Terrazzo consists of chips of marble, granite, quartz, glass, shell, or other suitable materials. It uses either a cement or epoxy matrix as the binder. Metal strips divide sections, make color transitions, design decorative patterns or logos, and allow for movement or crack mitigation. Divider strips are made from aluminum (epoxy terrazzo only), zinc, brass, or plastic but never stainless steel. Manufacturing and Curing of Terrazzo Tiles (in IRAQ):<br />Terrazzo Square tiles are manufactured in sizes 400 x 400 x 30mm and 300 x 300 x 30mm (length x width x thickness), in local factories in Iraq. The manufacturing process was carried out under high quality control according to the Iraqi General Specification (No. 1042 of 1984) cast in hardened steel molds consisting of two layers: a white hydraulic cement layer with a thickness of 15 mm reinforced with marble chips and then vibration was applied for the purpose of homogenization and allowing the trapped air to escape from the surface, then adding Regular gray hydraulic Portland cement mortar 15 mm thick with a standard pressure of 150 bar to obtain adequate coalescence of the two layers. The particle size distribution of the marble chips, marble powder (filler) and aggregates were selected to support the mixture according to Iraqi specification recommendations. Finally, the fine polishing process removes a 3mm top layer and reveals the beauty of marble chips mixed with colored cement.
