In order to achieve the slogan “Towards a Sustainable University” and to achieve the third goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (Good Health and Well-Being), the Department of Anesthesia Techniques at the College of Health and Medical Technologies at AL_mustaqbal University organized a scientific symposium on the occasion of World Heart Day, which falls on September 29 of each year. In the presence of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Zahraa Halim Al-Qaim, the teaching staff and students. The symposium aimed to enhance academic and student awareness of heart diseases and their associated risk factors, and to shed light on the preventive measures that can be followed to reduce the spread of these diseases, within the framework of achieving the third goal of the Sustainable Development Goals "Good Health and Well-Being". The symposium included two scientific lectures presented by Consultant Dr. Fadhel Al-Sultani, Cardiologist and Director of Marjan Teaching Hospital, and Assistant Professor Dr. Shukri Faiz Al-Saad, Catheter Intervention Specialist from the College of Medicine, University of Babylon. The scientific sessions were moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Aqil Hanzel Tarish, Chairman of the session, with the participation of Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Sami, the session rapporteur.<br /><br />The lecturers talked about the factors that cause heart disease, such as age, unhealthy lifestyle and smoking, and provided advice for prevention, including adopting a healthy lifestyle, quitting smoking, and reducing the prevalence of high blood pressure. They also encouraged exercising daily for at least 30 minutes.
