learning involves many different concepts including the concept of the child performing the movement, the task or activities used to learn motor skills, the skills needed to achieve a movement ,the environment in which the learning is taking place and regulatory conditions that may affect the environment. I will focus on discussing the concept of the environment, as this is a very important aspect of motor skill acquisition. An individual’s environment influences their movements in a very significant manner; it can inhibit or facilitate movements. It is essential that each patients environment is assessed and adjusted as needed to facilitate motor skill acquisition. The environment needs to be just right in accordance with the child’s deficit. For example, a child with a movement coordination disorder who may not be able to get through their environment safely may restrict their movements due to safety concerns. In order to effectively decrease this problem, an Occupational therapist can modify the environment to ensure the child can participate in their daily occupation effectively. Also, assessing the context/environment in which the patient is involved also help with establishing the best intervention plan for a successful outcome.
Keywords: motor ,learning,skills
Prof Dr.Mazin Hadi kzar
Al-Mustaqbal University College
[email protected]
