Every sport has its elements of danger and this includes, the sport of climbing. Pre-protection points is being placed in the outer rocks or indoor walls to reduce the dangerous elements. Subsequently, the physical difficulty of each climb can be high, resulting the process of falling to be common and relatively safe. Like other sports that are subject to a set of international rules and laws, competitive sport climbing is governed by the International Council of Climbing Competition (ICC). It is an integral part of the International Federation of Alpine Societies (Union Internationale d’Associations d’Alpinisme (UIAA)). The administration and development of all aspects of the sport of international competition climbing is responsible by the ICC, and the UIAA has been granted recognition by the International Olympic Committee as an inter-member federation.
Climbing competitions can be categorized into several different types: ice climbing, bouldering, leading, and speed climbing. Leading competitions recreate the challenges faced by outdoor sport climbers on indoor climbing walls. A competition of climbing commonly consists of a series of rounds whereby the number of climbers is gradually reduced but at the same time, the difficulty of the route is increased. Routes are designed with all but one falling before reaching the top. Climbers are given scored according to the height they achieve. Multiple rounds of competitions are needed to identify competitors who can do well consistently. This is to make sure a final round of roughly equal climbers can be delivered. Climbers must tackle the routes "on sight". This means that they have no prior knowledge of the moves they must make to advance between holds, and they are not allowed to see any other competitors in their attempts. Top rope climbing is very safe and it can minimize the risk faced by the climbers. A climber is attached tightly to a safety rope, which passed through the bolt anchors fixed at the top of the climb and returned to the belt at the start of the climb. Globally, many different climbing score systems have been developed to help climbers measure their performance and the difficulty of the climbs they have made.
Key word: sport, rock, climbing
