"A Delegation of Sustainability Ambassadors from University of Al-Mustaqbal Visits Warith Deirman Center to Strengthen Partnerships in Health and Education Fields"

Within the framework of enhancing global partnerships to achieve sustainable development goals, a delegation of Sustainability Ambassadors from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies, University of Al-Mustaqbal, visited the Warith Deirman Center for Smart Prosthetics and Medical Rehabilitation in Karbala.<br /><br />The visit aimed to explore the technological and medical initiatives adopted by the center, which align with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in the areas of health (Goal 3), quality education (Goal 4), and partnerships for the goals (Goal 17).<br /><br />Highlights of the Visit:<br />Exploring Smart Prosthetics: The ambassadors were introduced to the latest technologies used in manufacturing smart and mechanical prosthetics, including advanced joints and high-tech feet imported from global companies such as Blatchford (UK) and Ottobock (Germany).<br />Academic Partnerships: The delegation discussed ways to enhance collaboration with Iraqi universities, such as the University of Karbala and the University of Al-Mustaqbal, which regularly organize scientific visits for engineering students to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application.<br />Supporting Vulnerable Groups: The ambassadors commended the center’s efforts in providing free or subsidized services to over 136 beneficiaries, including injured Popular Mobilization Forces personnel and underprivileged families during the current year, directly contributing to efforts to eradicate poverty (Goal 1).<br />Environmental Innovation: The delegation highlighted the use of lightweight materials, such as carbon fibers, in the production of prosthetics, which reduces the carbon footprint compared to traditional plastics.
