Dr. Athraa Yahya Mohammed Al-Hijazi published a new article entitled Cutting the frenulum, which is the process of removing the frenulum, which is a small fold of tissue that prevents the organ in the body from moving away. It also refers to the bridle in several places of the human body. Associated with frenulumoplasty, which is a surgical change to the frenulum. Usually performed for orthodontic purposes, the frenulum is removed either within the middle part of the upper lip, called frenulum lipectomy, or below the tongue, called frenulum resection. Frenusectomy is a very common dental procedure that is performed on children and adults.
There are several frenulums associated with the types of frenulumectomy:
Tongue frenulum resection as a treatment for tongue adhesion.
• Libiectomy is very common with patients with dentures in order to obtain a suitable match for the dentures, or with patients who have tissue adhered to the center of the upper lip and causes receding gums or a gap between the upper front teeth called central incisors (opacities).
Frenusectomy is also done to remove part of the tissue (frenulum) that is attached to the periodontal tissue between years.
