It is well-known that fruits and vegetables protect against cancer, and this may be in part because they contain antioxidants (DNA oxidation is a potential cause of cancer in humans), which decrease the level of oxidation of DNA.
What is DNA?
DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the molecule that carries the genetic instructions used in the growth, development, functioning, and reproduction of all known living organisms and many viruses.

DNA is found within the chromosomes inside the nucleus of the cells that make up every living thing, including your kiwi fruit are a rich source of vitamin C and other antioxidants
kiwi fruit contain an enzyme called proteinase – this attacks and breaks up the proteins, freeing the DNA.
It is proven that kiwi not only repair DNA damage but also stimulate DNA repair so we considered kiwi acts as a modulator of DNA damage and DNA repair.

Kiwi reduces DNA damage because it contains both vitamin C and E, which are antioxidants. And its DNA repair comes from its ability to stimulate base excision repair. As per experts, when we protect our DNA, it means that we are reducing the risk of cancer, slowing down the aging process, augmenting our immune system and protecting our brain.
A study published in the journal "Nutrition Research '' says that consuming kiwi fruit helps reduce the levels of oxidative DNA damage in human cells. And another study says that the antioxidants in kiwi fruit help protect against DNA oxidation.
م.م رنين هشام شعلان
جامعة المستقبل الجامعه الاولى في العراق
