Designing and Printing Human Joints
In support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 (Quality Education) and 9 (Industry and Innovation)
Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ali Kamel Karim, Engineers Baraa Mahdi Saleh, and Tabarak Amer Hassan, fourth-year students conducted a scientific activity designing a hip joint that mimics the natural human joint.
Designing a hip joint using SolidWorks is a pivotal step in the field of biomedical engineering. This program enables the design of an accurate 3D model of the components of an artificial joint, contributing to a clear understanding of dimensions and mechanical structures. This design helps simulate joint movement and ensure its efficiency before actual manufacturing, reducing potential errors and improving the quality of the joint's functional performance. It also facilitates communication between engineers and doctors and enhances manufacturing accuracy using computer-aided manufacturing techniques, which positively impacts patient comfort and quality of life after surgery.
Al-mustaqbal university top in iraq
