Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and with the dedicated follow-up and direct supervision of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majid, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the First Scientific Conference of the College of Administrative Sciences was launched on Tuesday, April 23, 2025, under the theme:<br />“Poverty and Sustainable Development in Iraq: Impact Costs and Response Policy”.<br />The event marked the conclusion of the 3rd Al-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week, organized by the university from April 16 to 24.<br /><br />Opening Session: High-Level Dialogue on Poverty and Development<br /><br />The conference opened with a high-level panel discussion featuring prominent experts and decision-makers, including:<br /> • Prof. Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat University<br /> • Prof. Dr. Wafa Al-Mahdawi, Advisor to the Ministry of Planning and Professor of Sustainable Development at Al-Mustansiriya University<br /> • Eng. Moayad Ismail Al-Janabi, Director General of the Executive Administration for the Poverty Reduction Strategy at the Ministry of Planning<br /><br />Participants discussed the state of poverty in Iraq, with a special focus on Babil Governorate as a case study. The dialogue addressed structural challenges, government policies to combat poverty, and ways to advance SDG 2 – Zero Hunger, one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
